Frequently Asked Questions

Below you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about working with Magnify Family Wellness. If you don't see what you're looking for, please reach out.

Who do you work with?

Magnify Family Wellness provides individual therapy for adults navigating pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, birth trauma, parenting stress and burnout, and the challenges that can come with caring for a child with medical, emotional, or behavioral needs.

Although many of the concerns we discuss involve children and family relationships, the adult is the identified client and recipient of therapy. Magnify does not currently provide individual psychotherapy to children.

Do you offer in-person or virtual appointments?

All appointments are provided through secure telehealth, allowing you to attend therapy from a private location that works for you. Virtual therapy can make high-quality care more accessible and easier to fit into the realities of family life. Research supports its effectiveness for many concerns.

However, virtual therapy is not the right fit for every person or every situation. As part of our initial consultation and throughout our work together, we’ll consider whether telehealth is an appropriate and effective way to support your needs. If I believe you would be better served by in-person care or a different level of support, I’ll talk with you about that openly and help you identify appropriate next steps.

At this time, therapy is available to clients who are physically located in Texas at the time of their appointment.

What can i expect from therapy with you?

Therapy at Magnify is warm, collaborative, family-centered, and grounded in evidence-based care. We'll spend time understanding not only what you're struggling with, but also your relationships, family life, values, strengths, and the realities of your current season.

Together, we'll identify meaningful goals and develop strategies that are both supported by psychological science and realistic for your everyday life. We’ll pay attention to whether treatment is actually helping by using your experience alongside brief, validated measures to track progress and guide our work.

how long are therapy sessions?

Individual therapy sessions are approximately 50 minutes.

The frequency of sessions will depend on your needs, goals, and treatment plan. Many clients begin with weekly appointments, although we will determine together what makes the most sense for you.

Do you provide therapy for children?

I do not currently provide individual psychotherapy to children.

However, parents may seek therapy to help them cope with the emotional and practical challenges of parenting a child with medical, developmental, emotional, or behavioral needs. In these cases, the parent—not the child—is the therapy client.

You can learn more on the Child Wellbeing specialty page.

How much does therapy cost?

Individual therapy sessions are $250 per session.

Magnify Family Wellness is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. Please visit the Fees page for additional information about payment, out-of-network benefits, and superbills.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. Psychologists in Texas do not prescribe psychiatric medication.

When medication evaluation or management may be helpful, I can discuss this with you and, when appropriate, help you identify or coordinate with a qualified prescribing provider.

How do I get started?

If you're interested in working together, you can begin by completing the contact form, emailing hello@magnifyfamilywellness.com, or calling (346) 474-4404. You don't need to know exactly what you need or have the perfect words to describe what's going on.

A note about your privacy: Please avoid including sensitive health or personal information. The contact forms are intended for general inquiries and are not a secure method for sharing confidential clinical information. Submitting an inquiry does not establish a psychologist-client relationship. If we decide to move forward, you'll receive instructions for completing intake information securely.
Do I need a diagnosis to receive therapy?

No. You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis or know exactly how to describe what you're experiencing.

As part of therapy, we will talk about your concerns, history, and goals and determine whether treatment at Magnify is appropriate for your needs. When clinically appropriate, a mental health diagnosis may be assigned as part of your care.

What if I need help between sessions?

Magnify Family Wellness is an outpatient psychotherapy practice and does not provide emergency or crisis services or 24/7 clinical coverage.

If you believe you may need a higher level of care or more intensive support than outpatient telehealth therapy can provide, we can discuss appropriate treatment options and referrals.

If you are experiencing an immediate or life-threatening emergency, seek emergency assistance.
